Lots to Do & Lots Done too...

We're now sitting at a 5 week countdown til our new baby makes an entrance! Five weeks can seem like a very long wait or a flash of time depending on what you're waiting for OR up against. Are you starting a diet? well...that would be a very long time to look at. However, if you use a calculator & are expecting a large number - you'll see it only pops up a 35 on that little screen - which converts to "days left" & that takes you by suprize a bit! The whole time you've been looking at nothing but long stretches of time to wait around to meet that person in there. incrementsd of time measured by numbers like: 20 weeks left or 3 months left - not anymore...

We've accomplished many things on our to - do list around the house, so that's a very good feeling for both of us. And just celebrated our two yr anniversary of living here. But as with most crossed - off lists, there's always more underneath, isn't there?!? So we just keep at it ;-) The carpet & couch - BOTH crossed off the list. Happy I don't have to bring a baby down to the patchwork of rugs on concrete downstairs now. And we finally have a resting place we can all fit on AT ONCE - we don't need to fight for space on the big chair anymore.

We still have the bar behind the couch to put finishing touches on & hang pictures & the rest of the signs we have waiting to find a home on the wall - but the biggest part of it is done. Our guest bedroom has been moved downstairs to it's newly carpeted floor...all of a sudden 1/2 of our basement has completely changed to look all warm & cozy with furniture & flooring!

And the baby's room (between Elise's room & our room upstairs) has her old crib & changing table waiting for some company. We've always been in that room to read nap & bedtime books in the rocking chair - and soon someone will be making little noises in there with us!

Eric is just getting back from another 4 day trip from our Spring Bd mtg in D.C. This time I got to stay home & waddle around working here. The mountain of hats is getting lower! That's always a good thing to see - cuz I'm getting further away from being able to stand that close to the machine. ha ha!

my OLDER husband

I'm married to an older man now...still as cute & balding as the one I was married to on Tuesday, but he IS much older now. I won't have to catch up for another 8 1/2 months now! Our little girl loves a party with cake & singing - we should actually have one every week for as much as she gets a kick outta it ;-)

It's a stiff 15 below zero this morning. I don't think a thing can move outside besides a sturdy vehicle. Yikes, that's a tough temp to see on the thermometer!

Gotta keep that snow from building up on the roof. Takes a mighty long shovel for that job...We had the thickest frost a week ago. It was really foggy the night before, so you kinda knew it was coming - but nothing can preview how beautiful it actually is when you wake up.

Nesting has begun...

It DOES happen...the nesting sets in & the organizing begins. Oven vents are getting cleaned...nails are finally being pounded into the walls as items get hung...junk drawers are becoming tidy...boxes are being paid attention to that haven't seen a finger on them since we moved in almost 2 yrs ago...garbage bags are flying outta the house left & right as the sorting & filing goes on & on & on. Baby must be getting close! End of March is approching really fast, only 2 more calendar pages & it'll be looking right at me...The plastic tumblers are creeping into the house - as if we don't have a life full of them already ;-) There's always something to put in another one OR another size you can find, right? Kmart gave me some more of them today & at the same time, mom was picking more up on clearance at Target. She has me addicted to them. It's a pretty safe vice I think.

Eric has been busy running around the country doing his presentations for their safety program w/ all the aviation state conventions. He's the little guy in blue in the front of the room. And that's my photo on the overhead from when he had the 6th graders come to watch pattern testing in the spring. Elise & I keep the house running while he's gone & when he bounces back for a few days, we usually try to run a few places with him in our vehicle if we can capture him long enough!

He's been having fun on his snowmobile - and we've been lucky enough to actually have some snow this year to play in outside. Seems to be hat season at the embroidery shop these days. Whew! lots of them - everybody's head is gonna be looking great come the next few months. Good to be busy...

Still kinda shocking we're in 2008. Takes a bit of getting used to realizing last year has blown by and it's a new start for so many things. Those kids grow up so fast - see? Now I sound like one of those "older" people! oh my, you really do turn into your parents...

Thanks to everyone who sent us photo Christmas cards - they've finally gone down from the fridge now. But we had fun gazing at your faces for many many days. One of my favorite things to do every year is camoflauge the fridge with our friends & family.

Mothers Day

On Friday, first of all, I celebrated my 6th anniversary of my business - whoo-hoo! That was quite a milestone to come upon. You never know what you're going to get into...or for how long, do we?!?!

Feeling very blessed to be a mom to our pretty little girl - we had a wonderful Mother's Day today! My mom was here to go to church with us this morning & then we had to go get some flowers - that was fun...

The award-winning husband grilled for the very first time on his almost done deck. I personally have named it the "deer stand". The one on the other side of the house is called the "dock"...long and skinny ;-) This one you could literally use for hunting out in our woods. We had steaks and potatoes on the grill & for the finale' : s'mores. We had to laugh, what a surprize!

And to end the day - I decided to make a big batch of my famous sticky carmel corn....mailing some off, taking some to friends & keeping the boys happy for the husband to take to work.

We're a blogging family now

I'm going to take my best shot at this and hope it's not too difficult to figure out & keep up with ;-)

Eric has been busy already with approx 6,000 acres in the last couple weeks. He completed a lot of projects in his garage and is pretty happy to come home to that. And we're always at the door with a smile for him of course. Two sets of dimples waiting for face to appear...

Elise has just turned that magical 2 1/2 yrs old now. She has short conversations with us and is a very detailed little girl with every move. A child really changes at this age - and my...do they know how to test their parents! She does really bring a smile to our faces though. Such a big personality already all packed into 3 ft of a kid. We were on our way to promising her a sibling for Christmas this year, but God knows the grander plan - and our home has had quite a sad week. Hardly past it, we've been flooded with love from so many. And when I look at Elise, who can be sad for long. She may have a few brothers & sisters later on...it's not for us to know right now.

I've been blessed myself with many springtime embroidery jobs. Elise runs the shipping & receiving department along with assistance on most paperwork as you can well imagine! Couldn't ask for a better co-worker, excuse me...unpaid employee. Can't complain about the help with the pay she gets -

Springtime is beautiful with everything budding and poppin outta the ground. Encouraging to see my transplanted plants & flowers coming up for the first time since we moved here. You plant this lifeless looking bare fall plant & hope it makes it thru the wintertime. So that really proves faith to a person.

Take time this weekend to show appreciation for all your mothers have done for you....and those who have been 'like' a mother to you in your lives. Be grateful to them - nobody loves you like your MOM!
